Lyon Airport to Champagny-en-Vanoise

From Lyon–Saint Exupéry Airport, compare a booked road transfer with a rail itinerary ending at Moûtiers. Check whether the train leaves Saint-Exupéry TGV or Lyon Part-Dieu: they are different stations.

Avoid the station-name trap

Lyon Airport has its own Lyon-Saint Exupéry TGV station. A journey displayed as leaving “Lyon” may instead depart from Lyon Part-Dieu in the city. The airport describes Rhônexpress as the link to the city; allow for that extra leg if your selected itinerary requires it.

Do not assume an airport TGV connection runs to Moûtiers simply because both stations appear in a booking search. Read the full itinerary, including changes, transfer between stations and the last road connection.

Compare transfer and rail options

Choice Main advantage to assess Detail to settle
Direct booked road transfer Fewer changes with skis and family luggage Exact Champagny address and delayed-flight policy
Seasonal shared service, if offered A seat on a scheduled departure Whether it reaches Champagny or stops elsewhere
Rail itinerary Useful when connections fit your arrival Departure station, changes and Moûtiers last mile
Car hire Flexibility during the stay Equipment, parking and collection hours

For a road quote, include passenger count, skis, bags, child seats and your accommodation’s village or hamlet. Confirm whether the quoted total includes the upper-valley address if relevant.

Build in the arrival margin

After landing, allow time for baggage and any ski collection. Separate bookings may have different delay and cancellation terms, so read each leg’s conditions. If the onward journey becomes impractical after a late flight, compare an overnight stop with an expensive last-minute transfer.

Finish a rail plan with the Moûtiers bus or taxi guide. For a rental car, read driving and parking, then verify check-in with your host.

Common questions

Is Lyon-Saint Exupéry TGV the same as Lyon Part-Dieu?

No. Saint-Exupéry TGV serves the airport; Part-Dieu is in Lyon. Check the station on every rail ticket and plan the link between them if needed.

Is there always a direct airport transfer to Champagny?

Do not assume a service operates on your day. Search the exact destination and date, and obtain a confirmed stop or a private quote before booking the flight connection.
